Investing in Tomorrow’s Leaders, Empowering Dreams Through Scholarships

Today's youth are the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. Education opens the door to a brighter future, yet poverty denies many young Filipinos this crucial opportunity.

The JVR Foundation is dedicated to bridging this gap by providing scholarships to underprivileged but talented and deserving students in partnership with top educational institutions across the Philippines.

Our partner schools include the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Tarlac State University, St. Scholastica’s College, Divine Word College of Laoag, University of San Carlos in Cebu, Ateneo de Davao University, University of Mindanao in Digos and Tagum, and Notre Dame Colleges in Midsayap, Kidapawan, Tacurong, and Jolo.

In addition to supporting academic advancement, JVRF empowers young people through the JVR Technical Training Center in Pasay City. Here, out-of-school youth (OSY) receive free technical education and skills training to help them become productive members of society. Since opening in 1987, the center has trained around 400 OSYs, transforming lives through education and skill-building.

Bridging Gaps: The JVR Foundation’s Impact in Sitio Dumalogdog

The JVR Foundation (JVRF) has played a transformative role in bridging the educational and infrastructural gaps faced by the Matigsalog indigenous peoples in Sitio Dumalogdog, Davao City.

In 2012, recognizing the challenges the community faced in accessing basic services, JVRF funded the reconstruction of a dilapidated and narrow hanging bridge that connected residents to essential services, including Dumalogdog Primary School. The original bridge, unsafe and insufficient, was a significant barrier to education, particularly for young children. The newly constructed bridge, now wider and sturdier, has become a vital lifeline, enabling easier and safer access for students and the entire community. This project was highlighted in an episode of the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed GMA documentary program I-Witness, bringing wider attention to the issue and JVRF’s efforts to address it.

But the foundation’s support didn’t stop at infrastructure. Understanding the interconnected nature of education and nutrition, JVRF also launched a feeding program to support the health and well-being of students, particularly those who were undernourished. To further enhance the learning environment, solar-powered lanterns were installed in the school, providing much-needed light for evening classes and ensuring a safer, more conducive space for learning.

Today, the impact of these interventions is clear: not only has the newly rebuilt bridge increased school attendance and enrollment at Dumalogdog Primary School, but it has also improved the quality of life for the entire community. Thanks to the JVR Foundation’s holistic approach, the Matigsalog people now have better access to education, improved health, and enhanced opportunities for the future.

The footbridge, a symbol of resilience and progress, has changed the lives of Matigsalog children and has become a catalyst for positive change within their community.

The JVR Foundation is deeply committed to its primary mission of nation-building, and one of the most impactful ways it achieves this is by empowering individuals with the skills and competencies needed for future employment. Through its programs, we have created pathways for communities to improve their prospects and build sustainable livelihoods.

A key initiative in this effort is the establishment of a training center for International Wiring Systems Philippines Inc. (IWSP) in Tarlac, an affiliate company of JVR. IWSP is a leading manufacturer, processor, and trader of wiring harnesses and cables for cars and motorcycles, providing a vital component to the automotive industry.

The training center, which supports IWSP’s partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), offers a dual training system program. This program focuses on the automotive wiring harness assembly module, with an NC II certification—a nationally recognized qualification that enhances the employability of graduates.

By combining hands-on training with formal education, the center helps develop the skills of future workers, equipping them with the expertise needed to thrive in the manufacturing sector. This initiative not only benefits IWSP and the broader automotive industry but also provides individuals with valuable skills that open up opportunities for stable, long-term employment.

Through such programs, the JVR Foundation continues to play a crucial role in building a stronger, more competitive workforce while helping individuals from underserved communities realize their full potential.
